A wish-granting Genie! Magic carpet rides! A wicked and powerful Sultan! It's about to be a whole new world when the Broadway-bound musical Aladdin flies into the Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre on November 1. "It's about combining the things that kids love with the stuff that adults love," said director Casey Nicholaw at a presentation of material from the show. A top-notch team of storytellers—including Nicholaw, writer Chad Beguelin, composer Alan Menken, Adam Jacobs as Aladdin, Courtney Reed as Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie and Jonathan Freeman as Jafar—have come together for this larger-than-life musical adaptation of the classic Disney film. The fantastical tuner about the charming street urchin doesn't fly into Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre until February 2014, but you can take a peek at Aladdin's dance numbers, elaborate costumes and more in the video below!
